On-the-Spot Writing Contest with Guest Judge Rayna Flye
Join us for writing fun and prizes!
In this snappy writing contest, we give the writers four writing prompts and set the timer for 30 minutes. When the time is up, they read their stories and the judges select a winner—all right there on the spot. There’s no time to hesitate, second-guess, or hold back. Then the winner takes home prizes! All writers are welcome, from published professionals to newborn novelists.
For this On-the-Spot Writing Contest event, we’re thrilled to be joined by guest judge Rayna Flye.
Rayna Flye always wanted to be a spy, but as she’s frequently afraid and can’t keep a secret, it was never going to work. So she chose to write about spies instead.
By day, Rayna is a researcher, and her nights are spent trying to figure out how to get her characters out of their latest jam. When she’s not writing, she can be found crafting or in the garden. A life-long learner, she skips the lesser C-SPANs to watch C-SPAN 3. Life goal? One day getting on Jeopardy. Rayna lives in Portland, Oregon, USA, with her husband and their drooly Newfoundland. She is a member of the Women’s Fiction Writers Association and a 2020 Pitch Wars mentee.

Once a proposal is approved, to reserve a date, we ask for a $50 deposit to hold the date for you and guarantee a minimum of $50 in sales. Once sales during your event—books, coffee, wine, beer, food, or anything else—exceed $50, you get that deposit back. So invite your crowd, and we'll bring ours, and everybody wins!
