Henna with Cathy Camper, Arab Arab All Year Round

BOLD is thrilled to host a special henna event with Cathy Camper, author of Arab Arab All Year Round.
Summer is the perfect time to decorate your hands and feet with henna! Henna tattoos, also called Mehndi, are an ancient part of Indian, North African and Arabic culture, and people have used henna to decorate themselves for centuries. We’ll use tubes of henna paste to make our own designs or copy some from books or the internet. After drying 24 hours, the greenish paste will leave an orange design on your skin, that can last up to 2 weeks. Since henna is a dye, wear old clothes, to avoid stains. Also, though henna is all natural, it may cause an irritation on sensitive skin.
Cathy Camper is the author of the Lowriders in Space series, Ten Ways to Hear Snow, Bugs Before Time, Lowriders to the Rescue and Arab Arab All Year Round (2022). She’s also a librarian, an artist, and she loves to do creative things!
DISCLAIMER: Henna can stain clothing. Sometimes, pieces of it flake off as it dries, but those can leave stains on a white shirt. It may also be possible to have a henna allergy, so please be mindful of this before participating in this activity.
Event cohosted by BOLD Coffee & Books and Indigo: Editing, Design, and More.
